Casual Up for Breast Cancer

Thank you so much for participating in Casual Up for Breast Cancer. This program exists to provide educational awareness about breast cancer and to help provide free mammograms to women who cannot afford them.

What does it mean to "Casual Up"?

In corporate America, casual day represents a day where employees can dress down and be comfortable while they work. Casual days are a good way to boost employee morale and allow them an opportunity to escape from the normal corporate attire. Since casual days have become a norm, the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) offers a great opportunity for employees across corporate cultures to use their casual days to raise money to fight breast cancer, a fight that is greater than all of us. Casual Up for Breast Cancer can be done anytime of the year, not just in the month of October. For many women and families, breast cancer is a lifelong fight.

Why Casual Up?

We all know someone or have heard of someone affected by breast cancer. One of the ways we can help fight this disease is by using the privileges we have every day to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer. Use your casual day at work to help raise money for breast cancer awareness and funding for mammograms for those in need. It’s simple, fun, and a great way to get your co-workers involved in something that saves thousands of lives!

What does Casual Up provide?

MAMMOGRAMS: Casual Up for Breast Cancer is a program sponsored by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. NBCF's mission is to increase awareness of breast cancer through education and by providing mammograms for those in need.

Casual Up Benefits

Tax deductible fundraising program:

Employer is responsible for ensuring their employees receive a receipt for their tax deductible contributions for the

fundraiser.

NBCF strongly encourages a Matching Program by the Employer. If the employer chooses to match the employee's

contribution, the portion that the Employer contributes is tax deductible as a donation.

If the employer elects to make a direct contribution that is NOT matching, that portion contributed will be tax deductible

for the Employer as a donation.

Can be incorporated as an ongoing fundraising effort within your organization

Will increase education about the benefits of early detection and provide mammograms for those in need.

Casual Up Pre-planning

Designate your Casual Director: Your Casual Director will be a person that will sponsor and coordinate the Casual Up fro Breast Cancer event. They will be responsible for coordinating the event and gathering all the appropriate materials to run a successful campaign.

Pick your Casual Up Day(s): Fridays are good days to have a Casual Up day. However, if this is not a good day for you, choose a day that best fits your company schedule. This program can be done on multiple days as well. Please check with your supervisors to designate your company’s Casual Up days.

Set your Goal: Talk with your employer about how much you want to raise. Set the goal and make it happen!

Promote the Poster: Download and fill in the date or dates of your Casual Up program. Place it in a common area designated by your employer.

Spread the Word: Send out emails! Put it on your MySpace^TM page and pass out the Casual Up flyers. All the materials you will need can be downloaded by clicking the Event Materials tab at the top of this page.

Collect: All checks should be made payable to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Encourage your team to donate online at www.nbcf.com.

Distribute: Download and print out the donation receipts and certificates of Appreciation to those who participated in the Casual Up For Breast Cancer fund raising event.

After the Event

Will your company match gifts? Find out whether your company will match your Casual Up donations. This is a good way to ensure that your Casual Up goal is met! Fill out all the proper forms given by your employer and make sure to reference Casual Up for Breast Cancer.

Submit Donations: COMPLETE YOUR DONATION FORM. This will ensure that the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. properly credits your company's donation.

Enclose ONE check, cashier’s check or money order of the total amount raised. Do NOT send cash donations. All cash donations should be given to your program’s Casual Director. The Casual Director will then tally up the cash amount and submit it to their accounting department.
